Village Health Center — Est. 1984

The People Behind
40 Years of Care

Three specialists. One team. A practice built on the belief that when care is personal and consistent, patients get better — and stay that way.

Our Story

Serving Long Beach Since 1984

Village Health Center opened its doors in 1984 when Dr. Raymond Tropeano recognized that Long Beach families needed a practice that treated the whole person — not just the complaint that brought them in. Four decades later, that philosophy still guides every appointment.

Over the years we added podiatry under Dr. Richard Graves, bringing musculoskeletal care full circle from spine to foot. Dr. Raymond Oca joined the chiropractic team, deepening our capacity to serve athletes, workers recovering from auto injuries, and patients seeking lasting relief from chronic pain.

We're still here, at the same address on Village Road, because the Long Beach community has trusted us with three generations of their families. That trust is not taken lightly.

The Doctors You'll See

Each visit is with one of our three specialists — never a rotating roster of strangers. Our patients stay because the care works.

Dr. Raymond Tropeano, founder and chiropractor at Village Health Center
Founder & Owner

Dr. Raymond Tropeano

Doctor of Chiropractic  ·  Chiropractic Medicine

Dr. Tropeano founded Village Health Center in 1984 with a straightforward conviction: that Long Beach deserved a chiropractic practice that listened first and adjusted second. Over four decades in practice, he has treated athletes, construction workers, teachers, and grandparents — learning that the spine does not lie, and that patients who feel heard heal faster.

His approach combines classical chiropractic technique with a deep attention to posture, movement patterns, and the chronic stresses of daily life. He remains the practice's clinical anchor, seeing patients five days a week at the same Village Road address he's called home since day one.

Dr. Raymond Oca, chiropractor at Village Health Center

Dr. Raymond Oca

Doctor of Chiropractic  ·  Sports & Injury Rehabilitation

Dr. Oca joined Village Health Center to extend its chiropractic capabilities into sports performance and auto accident recovery. He works closely with active patients — runners, cyclists, weekend athletes — helping them return to full function without relying on pain medication. His sessions are methodical and encouraging; he explains what he's doing and why at every step.

Dr. Richard Graves, podiatrist at Village Health Center

Dr. Richard Graves

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine  ·  Foot & Ankle Care

Dr. Graves brought podiatry to Village Health Center, completing the practice's musculoskeletal spectrum from cervical spine to plantar fascia. He specializes in custom orthotics, diabetic foot care, and heel pain — conditions where the right intervention early prevents a far longer recovery later. Patients consistently note his calm, unhurried manner and his ability to explain complex foot mechanics in plain language.

How We Practice

The Principles That Guide Every Visit

Patient-Centered Care

We don't run patients through. Every appointment begins with a conversation — what's changed, what's still hurting, what you need to get back to. Treatment plans are built around your life, not a standard protocol.

Lasting Relief

Short-term fixes have a way of becoming long-term frustrations. We focus on identifying what's driving the problem — structurally, biomechanically, and in your daily habits — so the relief you feel at the end of an appointment is still working months later.

Whole-Body Approach

Chiropractic and podiatry under one roof is not a coincidence — it's a philosophy. The spine influences how you walk. The way you walk shapes how your back loads. We look at the full picture because the body moves as one system.
